Business NameChecker
A quick, private pre-check of your proposed UAE trade name. Guidance only — availability and final approval are confirmed by the licensing authority and our expert.
What the pre-check looks at
Each UAE licensing authority — mainland or free zone — applies its own naming rules, and they can change. The checker reflects widely known general guidelines and uses short, illustrative word lists, so a green result is not an approval and a warning is not a refusal.
Characters
Trade names are generally written in English letters and digits, with spaces and a few signs such as & - . — other symbols are usually removed or refused.
Offensive and religious words
Words that may offend public morals, and religious names and terms, are generally not accepted in a trade name.
Protected names
Names or abbreviations of governments, ministries, emirates, ruling families, international organisations or well-known brands may need approval or be refused.
Personal names
Using a person's full name is usually only allowed if that person is a shareholder of the company.
Distinctive, not generic
A name made only of generic words such as "Trading" or "Services" is usually not distinctive enough. A unique word makes approval more likely.
Legal-form suffix
Suffixes such as LLC, FZ-LLC or FZE depend on the jurisdiction and company type. We confirm the right one for your structure.
Questions about choosing a business name in the UAE
Does the business name checker tell me if a name is available?
No, it only pre-checks the name against widely known naming guidelines. Availability is confirmed by the licensing authority's own register, and the final decision on approval is theirs. Our expert can check availability for you and suggest alternatives if the name is taken.
Is the name I type sent or saved anywhere?
No. The check runs entirely in your browser, on the text you type. Nothing is sent to Milton Bridge or anyone else, and nothing is stored after you leave the page.
Can I use my own name as the company name?
Usually only if that person is a shareholder of the company. Some authorities may also ask how the name is used or limit it to certain company types. We confirm what applies to your structure before you apply.
Why can a name that passes the pre-check still be refused?
Because each authority applies its own rules and judgement, and the checker uses short, illustrative lists. A name can also be refused because it is already registered, is too similar to an existing name or does not fit the licensed activity. Treat a green result as a good sign, not an approval.
Do I need to add LLC, FZ-LLC or FZE to the name?
A legal-form suffix is usually part of the registered name, and which one depends on the jurisdiction and company type. Mainland and free zone companies use different suffixes. We tell you the correct one when we agree your structure.
Should the name match my business activity?
It helps. Authorities may question a name that suggests an activity your licence does not cover, for example a word that implies banking or insurance. Choosing a name that fits your activity avoids delays and extra approvals.
